Onboard PS Frequency Converter Series

Unitron’s PS programmable frequency converter operates from any standard worldwide power source. The PS Series is designed to operate from a wide input power frequency 30 - 800Hz, and provides 50Hz, 60Hz or 400Hz, output power in various single-phase and three-phase configurations, depending upon which programmable adapter is selected.  This versatility makes the unit ideal for supporting airborne and/or research laboratory environments. Since the customer can use the same base unit to provide any output power frequency 50Hz, 60Hz or 400Hz, the converter can be used in a variety of applications, without having to stock or support additional units like an extra 60Hz to 400Hz converter.

TRANSPORTABLE & PALLET MOUNTED

As an expansion of the PS-94 Series Frequency Converters, Unitron has developed the PS-95 Medevac Portable Power System, a self-contained, easily transportable unit to convert 400Hz aircraft power into a 3-station, 60Hz power bus for medical evacuation stations aboard military and commercial aircraft.  Each of the three stations is equipped with a NEMA 15-5R receptacle and independent circuit breaker.

The system is field-proven with the C-17, C-130, C-141 and KC-135 aircraft.

FEATURES:

  • One-Person Carry-on System (MIL-STD-1472F)
  • Low-Input Current Distortion
  • High-Input Power Factor
  • StopLite BITE™ Self-Diagnostic System
  • LED Displays for Current Monitoring
  • Detachable Input Cable
  • Small-Size and Lightweight
  • High-Reliability

(N+1) Redundancy / “Hot-Swappable”

Product Highlights

PARALLELING CONTROL BOX (PCB SERIES):

System requirements often dictate the paralleling of power modules to assure adequate power availability during critical missions. Regardless of how reliable a power module may be, it will fail at some point. To decrease the probability of a power module failure causing a critical buss outage, parallel the modules that in total will represent a power capacity greater than needed. Doing so results in having an (N+1) Redundant System, where “N” is the number of parallel modules required at all times. Such a system must be able to automatically remove the failed module from the buss without causing an interruption. It should identify which module failed and provide both local and remote announcement of the failure. “HOT-SWAP” replacement of the module, again without disturbing the critical buss, should be possible if (N+1) Redundancy is to be restored during the mission. The PCB Series Paralleling Control Box, in conjunction with two or more (up to five) PS-94 Series converters, does all this and more. The PCB Series also determines system output frequency and voltage configuration.

PROGRAMMING PLUGS
Create multiple outputs from a single PS Series converter by changing the type of plug inserted into the control receptacle (J3).

PARALLELING BOX (PB SERIES)
Operate in parallel up to 5 power modules in order to facilitate a maximum power grid expansion of 15.0kVA or 17.5 kVA, depending upon output configuration and number of units selected.

INTERCONNECTING CABLES
Cables of various lengths, or hook-up information can be provided for customers to fabricate the cables on-site when lengths are not easily predetermined.
